The History of ATC

The founder of ATC, Bud Phillips, has been involved in the HVAC contracting business for more than 50 years! We think he is a candidate for “The Most Interesting Man!” Bud has done it all including playing bass guitar in a band, racing drag cars, flying a private plane, owning a multi-state contracting business, installing HVAC systems in the most prestigious homes of our area and more! Bud serves as our Sales Manager and knower of many, many things!

In January 2024, Nathan Schmitt partnered with Bud Phillips to continue the ATC legacy.

Nathan, his wife, Crystal, and their 9 children moved from Buffalo, New York to Kingsport Tennessee in 2022 and fell in love with the natural beauty of the area and the genuine friendliness of the people, not to mention the warmer weather! Nathan has 15 years of experience in heating and cooling (especially heating given Buffalo!) having served as Sales Manager and General Manager for a large Western NY-based heating and cooling company. Nathan is passionate about HVAC and is dedicated to providing everyone with affordable prices, quality installations and reliable service.

Called asking for help with my mother-in-laws AC the Thursday before Labor Day. Tech was there to assess first thing Friday morning. Tried to repair same day but had to get a part. Totally fixed on Tuesday. She was miserably hot and says now it’s cold enough she had to up the temp on thermostat. Thank you so much ATC for responding so fast and getting the job done right! Heat pump was not cooling and temp was upper 80s indoors. ATC was called. Tim came out the next day, he was prompt and diagnosed the problem quickly. A compressor that fit the almost 20 year old unit was thankfully in stock, and Tim suggested things to help get the home a little cooler regarding the heat pump, since it was actually blowing out hot air (in summer). Tim came back the next day, installed it and did all the necessary things to get the unit working properly again. I'd recommend ATC.
